James Kane focuses his practice in the areas of education law, labor and employment law, and municipal law.  Within this practice, Mr. Kane handles a wide variety of matters for employers including providing counseling on employment-related matters under federal and Illinois State Labor laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family, and Medical Leave Act, Civil Service Law, the Illinois Public Labor Relations Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Mr. Kane has represented and advised school districts in grievance and arbitrations, matters of tenure and dismissal of certificated employees, as well as collective bargaining negotiations.  Mr. Kane has conducted and directed numerous workplace investigations for school districts and public employers.  Mr. Kane also serves as a Hearing Officer in student expulsion hearings for school districts.
